Emily Goode LCPC obtained her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson University, and B.A. in Psychology from Towson University. Emily specializes in working with LGBT adults and older adolescents, in addition to individuals processing grief. More specifically, Emily has a passion for working with trans and non-binary adults and older adolescents . She has led peer education sessions on trans identity and working with trans clients, and continues to foster this experience in joining with Magothy River Counseling.

Emily has completed training in Trauma Informed Care, Safety planning, and Trauma narratives.

Emily has extensive training and experience in LGBT affirming care, and a passion for working with queer people who are seeking care from a therapist with lived experience as a trans lesbian.  She provides a truly person centered approach, working with each client to meet their individual needs in a way that works for them. In line with this, Emily is kink, ace, and poly allied and has effectively worked with individuals from those populations.

In addition to LGBT affirming care, during her clinical internship, Emily gained in depth experience in working with Gilchrist, providing outreach, individual and group therapy for folks who had experienced grief and loss. As well as conducting intake screening at House of Ruth in Baltimore MD, and providing intake and referrals for attendees of the Gateway Project

Emily provides individual and group therapy to individuals 15 and older. She grounds herself in person-centered therapy, while also integrating techniques from other modalities. Emily also incorporates elements of Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, and Existential therapy. Outside of her work with Magothy River Counseling, she enjoys spending time with her pet cat and bunny, learning to play guitar, and going for runs.
