EMDR THERAPY

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Meet our EMDR therapists!

Julie Patchan, LCPC (She/They) is an EMDR trained therapist, having completed over 50 hours of training and consultation in Safety and Attachment Focused (S.A.F.E.) EMDR. Julie specializes in working with neuro-diverse and anxious older teens and adults, providing explanations and walkthroughs prior to beginning reprocessing. Julie works with individuals who have experienced big T and little t traumas. Julie promotes a pressure free environment, understanding and encouraging individuals to allow the healing to take the time it will take without any added pressure of “doing it right”. Julie is currently offering virtual EMDR services and would be happy to provide a free 15 minute consultation to decide if virtual EMDR is right for you.

Lisa Muscato, LCPC (She/Her) specializes in identity-based trauma, spiritual/religious trauma, and LGBT-affirming care. She combines EMDR with Acceptance and Commitment, and Psychodynamic approaches, focusing on the mind-body connection to help clients process and heal from complex traumatic experiences. Lisa’s inclusive and empathetic approach creates a safe space for individuals from diverse backgrounds, empowering them to reclaim peace and well-being.

What is EMDR?

EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a structured therapy that allows individuals to safely connect with their trauma while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation (like back and forth eye movements or tapping). EMDR exists under the belief that your system has everything it needs to heal from the past. While EMDR began as a treatment for PTSD, it is now widely used to treat a range of symptoms and diagnoses including anxiety and depression.

Your EMDR therapist will help you identify target memories and create a treatment plan with you. Once ready to begin the reprocessing phase of EMDR, your therapist will guide you through eye movements or tapping followed by the question “what are you noticing?”. There is no need to share details of your traumas, in fact EMDR involves far less talking than traditional talk therapy.

Virtual EMDR is now available more than ever, making this incredible therapy even more accessible! To participate in virtual EMDR services, you will need access to a device that connects to the internet that is at least 12 inches in size (such as laptops, desktops, and tablets).
